The first issue features work by Kenny Germé, a Paris-based fashion photographer from Martinique, on Jamaican bikers. From the initial series produced for an editorial, we have extracted a few orchestrated and staged images, which we have placed in dialogue with photographs Kenny took during his time on the island, constructing a fantasized vision of the Caribbean, in which the real and the fake intermingle. The series is accompanied by a poem by David Démétrius, written in response to the photographs. This short poem, which mixes French and Creole, tells a story of encounter and ambiguous fusion, with multiple evocations.
